Seaweeds, also known as macroalgae, are abundant sources of various vital bioactive components with a wide range biological functions. They sold commercially and primarily used in the food industry, pharmaceuticals, cosmeceuticals, other related industries. The diverse activities linked compounds obtained from seaweeds have potential to expand their health benefit value pharmaceutical Studies revealed that be complementary medicine due its variety properties been shown therapeutic for disease management, such antibacterial, anticoagulant, anticancer, antidiabetic, antiestrogenic, antihypertensive, antihyperlipidemic, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antiobesity, antiviral, immunomodulatory, neuroprotective, thyroid stimulant, tissue healing properties, many more. Although generally beneficial humans, they may still pose possible risks high iodine concentration exposure heavy metals arsenic concentrations. However, information on this topic is limited. With great importance seaweeds, green extraction methods Microwave-assisted Extraction (MAE), Supercritical Fluid (SFE), Pressurized Solvents (PSE) Enzyme-ssisted (EAE) were an alternative conventional method isolate further purified using chromatographic technique analysis ensure purity extract. This review covers following topics: general structure characteristics seaweed production, seaweed, risk factors applications extraction, purification extracts.
